MTB Commissaire Course

British CyclingBrownbacks have been approached by British Cycling in an attempt to get more people qualified to support race events across the Northwest. If you’re involved with racing locally this may mean you.

Jenny Gretton from British Cycling writes:

The opportunity to develop MTB events in the North West has never been greater; with many clubs across the region introducing Go-Ride racing to their regular club activity, the young riders who progress through these sessions will be looking to make the next step in to regional racing. In order to grow the sport and also support the existing MTB events in the region, we need to identify and train more MTB officials. I am in the process of organising a MTB Commissaire training course and would appreciate it if you could circulate the details below to anyone within your club who you feel may be interested in attending:

MTB Commissaires Course – May 2011 As weekends are now at a premium as we get in to the racing season, we will be delivering the course as two ‘twilight’ sessions on the following dates:

Thursday 12th May – Safeguarding and protecting children, Communication

Thursday 26th May – Administration, Technical and Competition

Cycling Commissaires from other disciplines are welcome to attend on the 26th May to under take MTB specific training. The venue will be The National Cycling Centre (Velodrome), Stuart Street, Manchester M11 4DQ and each part of the course will take place from 6.30pm – 9.30pm. The course is free of charge to attend and any interested candidates simply need to contact me to register for their place on the course: Places are limited, so please encourage any interested applicants to contact me before April 30th to register.
